The supply-demand gap of some types of multi-layer ceramic-chip capacitors (MLCCs) and specialty polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors (SP-Caps) has reached 10%, and the situation will continue into the second quarter due to limited capacities, according to Taiwan-based passive component distributors. The price of passive components remains stable on strong market demand, the sources added.
Passive component distributor Podak saw its monthly shipments of SP-Caps remain at 30 million units driven by strong orders from notebook customers. Market watchers expects the company to post NT$200 million (US$6.3 million) revenues in February, compared to NT$252 million in January.
Fellow company Honey Hope Honesty Enterprise has reported revenues of NT$307 million for February, down 22.1% on month. Both companies are expected to see March revenues return to the level of January on strong market demand, the sources said. |
